The current video and sound project A-taraxia is a sonic archive. (Αταραξία, a Greek term used by Epicurus to define the state of tranquillity, but by separating the A from taraxia, the meaning changes completely and it means the exact opposite).
The soundscape was exhibited at the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA) on secularism 2017.
The idea of the video was taken from Derrida’s The Beast and the Sovereign (Wolf), and G. Deleuze & F. Guattari omnipresence of animals.
It is divided into three “blocks” the wolf, the birds and animals marking their territory.
About the sound:
The soundscape combines many sounds, the most characteristic sounds are from demonstrations at the Arab Spring period, while through the whole piece we can hear debates on the Secularism in English and in Arabic. It continues with Andalusian music from the 11th-12th (Al Qudamm rhythm) combined with sounds of the Arab Spring revolts from the Middle East and Africa. Parts of Important revolt songs from the Arab world, during and after the revolts talking about the socio-political situation of the Arab world and democracy.
I collaborated with the Greek composer Jiannis Antonopoulos for the final realization of the sound, where he created a new morphologic-rhythmic synthesis applying as well his own layers of sound.

A-taraxia es un proyecto de archivo sonoro (Αταραξία, término griego usado por Epicuro para definir el estado de tranquilidad, pero separando el A de taraxia, el significado cambia completamente y significa exactamente lo contrario) Apuntando hechos y acontecimientos desde la época de Averroes hasta hoy.
El sonido fue expuesto en la Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Gotemburgo (GIBCA) sobre el secularismo 2017.
La idea del video fue tomada de La bestia y el soberano de Derrida (el lobo), y la omnipresencia de animales en los trabajos de G. Deleuze y F. Guattari.
El video se divide en tres “bloques” el lobo, los pájaros, y los animales que marcan su territorio.
Sobre el sonido:
Los sonidos utilizados son música andaluza de los siglos XI-XII (época de Averroes) combinada con sonidos de las revueltas de la Primavera Árabe, partes de canciones de las revueltas árabes, así como canciones que se componían después de las revueltas hablando de la situación sociopolítica del Mundo árabe (en árabe), también partes de debates sobre el secularismo en árabe y en inglés. Colaboré con el compositor griego Jiannis Antonopoulos para la realización final del sonido.
